On July 5th, 2024, the NAPSS Sports Director, Mr. Akande Pelumi, hosted a Chess tournament at the Faculty premises, to welcome and integrate freshly admitted students (Freshers) into the department. The friendly competition had the Freshers play against Finalists who are members of the department’s Chess team.
The players were grouped into a male team and female team. The male team had two players: Kumuyi Daniel ,a Finalist who played against Eneyi Dakore, a Fresher while the female team also had two players: Olatoye Temiloluwa, a Finalist who played against Irene Emina, a Fresher.
The tournament started around 4:30 pm.
The first round of games in the tournament pitted Irene against Temiloluwa. The duo played two (2) games, with Temiloluwa winning both rounds .
The second round of games in the tournament saw Kumuyi playing against Eneyi. Kumuyi and Eneyi played two games which were won by Kumuyi.
The Chess tournament ended in favour of the Finalist players who won 4 games in total from both male and female teams as opposed to the Freshers team who lost all their games.
