The Department of Political Science (POS) on Wednesday, 7th of August 2024 continued their invincible streak as they secured a 1-0 win over Wood Production Engineering (WPE) to qualify for the tournament’s Round of 16.
A lone goal from Obaloluwa in the first half was all POS needed to edge a 1-0 win over WPE. Despite WPE’s dominance in the game, their efforts to get a goal were repelled by a coordinated POS defence.
WPE’s woes in the game deepened as their striker, Tosin got a red card towards the end of the first half.
The second half kicked off with POS fighting off pressure to defend their lead while WPE threw everything at them in a desperate bid to level the scores. However, WPE attacks could not breach the defensive structure of the opposition team.
The second half ended goalless with both teams failing to find the back of the net. The win guaranteed POS the top spot in Group F with seven (7) points followed by WPE with six (6) points, while Animal Science and Architecture are left to hold the bag with a single point and zero.
