It is not novel that the FATSSSA general election was held on May 25, 2023, and in 24 hours, the result of the election has been declared. The electorate, financial members of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ibadan have used their most effective political right and franchise to select the candidates of their choice. Thus far, at the minute this report is being drafted, there have been no reports of any form of voter suppression or electoral malpractice nor have there been reports by any of the candidates refuting the election result. No doubt, the respective candidates contesting for various positions of authority were subjected to intense and objective questioning of the press on FATSSSA press night. The press night was populated by congressmen, candidates and pressmen. The pressmen quizzed all candidates aspiring for various positions on May 22nd when the press night was held. . This event wherein various candidates have to present their manifestoes no doubt helped to inform FATSSSAites on the candidate they deem fit for respective positions of authority.
Now that the election of result has been announced and winners have been declared, we will proceed to review how NAPSSites fared in the election. First, a report would be given on the NAPSSites who vied for posts in the FATSSSA Executive Council then a report on the FATSSSA House of Representatives election
REPORT ON the FATSSSA EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
Gloria.T.Popoola
Gloria, a 200-level student of the department, locked horns with Tunde-Abatan Tomisin, in contesting for the post of the Faculty General Secretary, Gloria emerged victorious with a total of 338 votes out of 642 votes cast while her counterpart, Tomisin was able to garner a total of 189 votes out of 642 votes cast. Out of the 642 votes, 527 votes were cast for both candidates constituting, 82.08% of the total votes while 14 votes were undecided constituting, 2.18% of the total votes and 101 votes were void constituting, 15.73% of the total votes cast.
Taiwo Olamidipupo
Taiwo, a 200 level of the Department, contested for the post of the Faculty Sports Director unopposed wherein, he emerged victorious. A total of 472 votes, were cast in his favour out of a total of 626 votes which constitutes 75.40% of the total votes cast. 33 votes, 5.14% of 626 votes were undecided, while 19.33%, 121 votes of 626 votes, were void.
Lawal Ridwan
Ridwan, a 100-level student of the department, went head to head with, Animashaun Boluwatife, a 100-level student of the department of sociology in vying for the post of Faculty Assistant General Secretary. This election especially, piqued the curiosity of electorates. A total of 643 votes were cast. It was a tight call because the winner, Animashaun emerged victorious with a vote margin. The winner, Animashaun amassed a total of 269 votes constituting, 41.84% while Ridwan amassed 268 votes, constituting 41.68% of the total votes cast. 1.56% of votes were undecided while 14.93% were void
Olumighty Omotayo
Olumighty Omotayo, a student of the department in the 200 level stepped down from contesting for the post of the PRO despite being unopposed for reasons considered personal. The office of the PRO, would not however remain vacant because a bye-election will be conducted.

Okon Queen
Queen, a freshman of the Department of political science, emerged victorious, unopposed representing the Department of Political Science 100-level constituency by winning 59 votes out of the total 59 votes cast, 100% of the total votes.
Oloyede Iyinola
Iyinola, a student of the department, 200 level, also emerged victorious, unopposed, by winning 50 votes out of the 50 votes cast, 100% to represent the department of Political Science, 200 level constituency.
Adekola Olajumoke
Jumoke, a student of the department, 300 level won 41 votes out of the 41 total votes cast, 100%, to represent the department of Political Science, 300-level constituency.
This is the latest update about the election, the POSSPRESS won’t hesitate to give credible reports on new development in the aftermath of the Faculty election as they develop.
