INTERVIEW WITH THE ASPIRANT VYING FOR THE OFFICE OF THE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER OF THE DEPARTMENT.

“I’m an effective communicator, I’m  transparent, an advocate, I make impact in everything I do…”

Here is Mr Alexander, an aspirant vying for the position of Public Relations Officer; in an interview with a POSSPRESS Correspondent.

Interviewer: Good afternoon sir.

My name’s Jerry and I’m a correspondent of POSSPRESS.

Mr Alexander: Alright. My name is Alexander.

Interviewer: Nice to have you here Mr Alexander.

Can you please introduce yourself?

Mr Alexander: My name is Boluwatife Alexander Ogunbunmi. I’m a student of UI, department of political science, 200 level.

Interviewer: Alright, can you please tell me more about yourself, sir?

Mr Alexander: I’m from Ogun state, Abeokuta North local government. I attended African church nursery and primary school. I was the librarian boy then. I also attended Gateway Secondary School. I was thesenior prefect. I worked at Globacom company in 2014 as a freelancer. I’m a certified desktop publisher by the national directorate of employment, Abuja. I have profound knowledge of MicrosoftAccess, Excel, CorelDraw, PowerPoint and Canva. I’m also a medalist of JAC Motors Abeokuta 10km marathon race 2019.

Interviewer: Can you tell me what makes you you, what are your basic beliefs, your philosophy, source of motivation and all…

Mr Alexander: My philosophy has to do with humanism and determination and spirituality.

I believe in hard work and God.

Interviewer: I understand you’re vying for the office of Public Relations Officer of the department, correct?

Mr Alexander: Yes, sir.

Interviewer: What made you decide on contesting for that post?

Mr Alexander: Thank you for this question, sir.

I am convinced I’m the best candidate for the post. I’m an effective communicator, I’m transparent, an advocate, and I make impact in everything I do. I also have profound knowledge of crisis management.

I have a lot of experience in public relations.

Interviewer: What are those experiences you think makes you qualified in vying for the Post of the PRO?

Mr Alexander: I have as a public relations officer when I was working at Simplicity Laundry, a company owned by the former zonal of the Ministry of Commerce, Agbara, Ogun state.

The laundry is located in Abeokuta while my Boss’ office is located in Agbara, a very far distance from the laundry. I relate with a lot of bankers (our customers) in his absence. I convince and persuade more customers to patronize us as we offer affordable service and we have “zero tolerance for stain” which was our motto.

Also, I’m the current Assistant General Secretary for Oke-sokori youth association, Abeokuta, Ogun state (2021- till date)

I’m the General Secretary for Gateway Secondary School Alumni Association 2019-date.

I do not work as the General Secretary alone, I also work as the P.R.O officer because the appointed P.R.O officer could not work effectively as he’s always complaining about what to write and do most of the time. He’s always putting his workload and duty on me probably because he believed that I’m more of a creative writer and I have knowledge of the technicalities of Public Relations. I’ve been doing this since 2019 effectively.

I also serve as a link between the Bayadeo D’vine venture and a lot of hotels patronizing our products where I worked as a supervisor (2019-2021). It’s a company whereby most of the staff are even married men and women and I’m able to relate to them all effectively.

In fact, as a result of productive public relations, my boss had to call me back during the ASUU strike and I was glad to serve her better.

Most of the staff and Boss, I have worked with, we still relate very well today. I’m a social and jovial person. I’m not rigid, I take heed to correction and guidance.

Interviewer: Hmm…alright

So, what’s that one unique thing you will contribute to the office if you emerge?

Mr Alexander: A lot. I have them in my manifesto.

Interviewer: Can you then state some of them

Mr Alexander: 1. Enhancing Communication

2. Building Positive Relationships

3. Creative Content Creation

4. Inclusiveness in the department and Faculty Politics through publicity and awareness.

5. Feedback and Evaluation.

Interviewer: Okay, let me ask this…

What’s the central theme of your manifesto?

Mr Alexander: Taking PR to the Next Level.

Interviewer: Alright.

How well do you rate your communication skills?

Mr Alexander: 100%

Interviewer: Hmm… alright

That will be all for this interview.

Thanks for your time Mr Alexander and I wish you the best of luck in your endeavour.

Mr Alexander: Alright. Thank you very much, Sir.
