On the 10th  of December 2024, the University of  Ibadan Students Union organised a Health Fair program themed, “ Healthy Living for a Sustainable Future.”  The health fair was held on the second day of UI’Su week and started at exactly 10 am.

The Health Fair took place at the Coke kiosk, opposite Sultan Bello Hall and was sponsored by Heaven Trust Foundation.

The Health Fair featured, health talks, mental health counselling, blood pressure check, blood glucose testing, free medication and first aid training.

Also, both students and non-students from the age range of 18-65 were eligible and encouraged to donate blood during  the program.

In an interview with Olusegun Dada, a donor recruiter from Heaven Trust Foundation, the major reason for blood donation is to help save lives that may need it during emergencies or other situations.

It is important to note that before  anyone was allowed to donate blood, different medical checkups and tests were done to validate their health state

According to the donor recruiter, the foundation’s target was to get 150 donors, but due to the low turnout of students, the target could not be met. He further added that the low turnout is a discouragement to the foundation.
