Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has been officially declared winner of the 2026 governorship election, after results were collated from all 30 local government areas across the state.
The State Returning Officer, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, declared the result of the poll at about 7:24 am on Sunday, at the commission’s collation centre in Osogbo, the state capital.
A tally of the results announced from the 30 local government areas showed Adeleke polling 511,067 votes, while his closest opposition, Bola Oyebamiji, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 444,815 votes.
The figures put Adeleke ahead by 66,252 votes.
Adeleke also won in 19 of the 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11. The governor recorded some of his strongest performances in his traditional strongholds. In Ede North, he polled 35,427 votes against Oyebamiji’s 10,283, while in Ede South, he secured 26,188 votes against 6,219.
In Osogbo, the state capital, Adeleke garnered 36,480 votes, defeating the APC candidate, who recorded 30,474 votes.
Other notable victories for the incumbent were recorded in Ife East, where he scored 27,201 votes against Oyebamiji’s 18,600; Iwo, where he polled 27,085 against 19,660; Egbedore, with 19,278 against 11,194; and Oriade, where he secured 21,343 votes against 14,863.
Oyebamiji, however, secured victories in 11 local government areas, including Irewole, where he recorded 29,972 votes against Adeleke’s 10,934.
Other local government areas won by the APC candidate include Boripe, Atakunmosa East, Atakunmosa West, Ife South, Ilesa East, Irepodun, Isokan, Obokun, Ola-Oluwa and Olorunda.
Also included is Najeem Salaam, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, who recorded a distant third with 17,180 votes, according to the tally provided.
With the declaration now made, Adeleke returns for a second term as Executive Governor of Osun State, having, in the words of the returning officer, satisfied the requirements of the law.
