In a surprising development ahead of the Public Relations Officer (PRO) election, Oriade Ibrahim, popularly known as “Prominent GC,” has announced his withdrawal from the race. The decision, shared late last week, leaves the contest with one candidate and has sparked questions regarding the future of FATSSA communication strategy.
In a letter addressed to his colleagues, Ibrahim cited personal well-being and pressing personal matters as the reasons for his withdrawal of candidacy. “This wasn’t an easy choice, because I truly value the trust and encouragement many of you have shown me,” he wrote. “The reasons are personal, and at this point in my journey, my well-being must take priority. Leadership should never be pursued half-heartedly.” His explanation has resonated with some supporters, who expressed understanding about his decision. His reason for withdrawal also exhibited rational choice over group interest.
Ibrahim, known for steering the “PROMINENT ship,” agenda campaigned on a manifesto which he claimed to aim at revolutionizing FATSSA’s communication. Ibrahim concluded his statement with gratitude and optimism, pledging to support the faculty’s growth off the ballot. “Though I may not be a candidate, I look forward to seeing these ideas and many more come to life,” he wrote.
