The Faculty of the Social Sciences Students’ Association (FATSSSA) has launched a groundbreaking initiative, the “Dean for a Day” challenge, giving one exceptional student the opportunity to serve as the Dean of the Faculty on the first day of FATSSSA Week.
In a special release issued by the FATSSSA committee, students were informed that the nomination process has commenced, and after passing all stages, only one student would be selected from across all departments and levels.
Each department is expected to nominate two exceptional students, and the two students with the highest number of nominations across each department will move on to the next stage of the process. The second stage of the selection process will be speech rendering, with further details to be shared at a later date.
The announcement has been met with enthusiasm and excitement from students in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Many have expressed their support for the initiative, which they believe would provide an opportunity for exceptional students to showcase their leadership skills.
According to Israel Oloyede, the Public Relations Officer of FATSSSA UI, “the Dean for a Day challenge is a first-of-its-kind initiative that would enable students to experience firsthand what it’s like to be the Dean of the Faculty. It’s a fantastic opportunity for exceptional students to showcase their leadership skills and inspire others in the faculty.”
He also urged all FATSSSAites to nominate eligible persons for the challenge, noting that being nominated does not automatically guarantee qualification for the next stage. A committee has been established to carefully review and scrutinize all nominees before proceeding to the next stage.
The “Dean for a Day” challenge promises to be one of the highlights of this year’s event, as students eagerly await the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership abilities.
