UI Releases Guidelines for Hall of Residence Accommodations, 2025/2026 Academic Session

In a notice issued by the Student Affairs Division and signed by the Dean of Students, Demola Lewis, the University of Ibadan announced that the Accommodation Module on the student portal is now accessible to both fresh and returning undergraduate students. However, all previous applications have been cleared, and students who had applied earlier are required to reapply.

Accommodation Timeline

According to the schedule, fresh students are expected to apply between 26th February and 4th March 2026. Final year students will have access to the accommodation portal from 1st to 6th March 2026, while other returning students, including those in satellite campuses, are scheduled to apply from 5th to 9th March 2026.

Postgraduate students will be granted access to the accommodation module at a later date. The University further clarified that no fresh student will be accommodated in any hall of residence before 2nd March 2026. Similarly, returning students will not be allowed into the halls before 5th March 2026.

To complete the process, students are required to log in to the University’s student portal and navigate to the Hall section on their dashboard. Applicants must fill out the Hall Application form, provide their Next-of-Kin details, and upload a recent passport photograph that meets the stated specifications.

Jaja Registration Verification

Returning students are required to indicate whether they have completed their Jaja registration. The system will automatically verify responses against the University database. Only students whose registration status is confirmed will be allowed to proceed. Those not found in the database will be unable to submit their applications.Fresh students are exempt from this verification step and may proceed after completing their health information.Once submitted, applicants are advised to regularly check the Hall Allocation page for updates from the Hall Warden.

Payment and Allocation Process upon approval by the Hall Warden, a student’s status will change from “Registered” to “Accepted.” Students are then required to pay their Hall Fee, Basic Hall Dues (compulsory), and any Optional Hall Dues through the portal.After payment confirmation, the status will reflect as “Paid,” and room allocation will be completed. Students must print their Accommodation Slip and Hall Identity Card in colour, as these documents will be required to collect room keys upon arrival.

Passport Upload Guidelines

The University has outlined strict guidelines for passport photograph uploads as part of the accommodation application process. According to the directive, the photograph must be recent and not older than six months. It must follow the standard passport style, showing only the head and shoulders of the applicant. The image should be clear and sharp, not blurry, with the applicant’s face clearly visible. The use of filters or images with heavy shadows is not permitted.

Applicants are also required to appear without glasses, hats, or caps in the photograph. The file must be in JPG or PNG format and should not exceed 1MB in size.

In addition, the image must have a minimum resolution of 300 by 300 pixels.The management has warned that applications submitted with photographs that do not comply with these specifications will be rejected. The University wishes all applicants success as they complete their accommodation process.
