The Union of campus journalists university of ibadan held its 3rd day LPO training on Wednesday 21st of May 2025 at the faculty of veterinary medicine featuring veterinary, pharmacy, Nursing and public health LPO members in attendance.
The training started with the reciting of the press prayer, which was led by the Assistant general Secretary of UCJUI, Ojo Victoria Ayoolajesu, at exactly 5:25 PM.
The first agenda was the training on news writing which was anchored by Aduwo Ayodele the editor in Chief of Indy press organization. He spoke about how important it is for a campus journalist to be familiar with being able to write and report a news and how important news reporting is to the world of journalism. He spoke on elements of news report and how to construct a good news article, according to Aduwo Ayodele” it is always good to make use of attributions while writing a news story for credibility sake, it is meant to inform”.
The second session was taken by Peter Sonaike, who spoke on feature writing. He taught on features writing as a continuation of the news article, containing more details than the news article. He gave explanations sighting different types of feature articles. According to him ” features article is written to drive impact”.
The last lesson was taken by Akanni Oluwasegun, the editor in Chief of AFAS press and the politics editor of UCJUI. He taught on investigative journalism, what is entails why it is important for campus journalists and how it uncovers hidden truth.Opportunity to ask Questions were given at each session, and after the final session, the training came to an end.
