In an highly anticipated final, the 2025 Survival Cup saw an unexpected twist as the 200 level Political Science/Psychology team was defeated by the Geography/Chemistry team, leaving fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle was blown. The road to the final, which seemed to be an easy route for the 200 level Political Science/Psychology team after qualifying for the knockout stage with a whopping twelve (12) points from four games in the group stage, turned out to be difficult and challenging in the final, as they lost by a goal to nil (1-0) to the Geography/Chemistry team in what turned out to be a disappointment to their fans.
The first half started with Geography/Chemistry having possession of the ball first and later ended in a goalless draw after the Political Science/Psychology team failed to convert their numerous chances.
The second half started, and the Political Science/Psychology team’s dominance in the game was interrupted by a goal from a penalty that was awarded to Geography/Chemistry after a collision between a Political Science/Psychology defender and a Geography/Chemistry forward. Kadasa, a Geography/Chemistry player, stepped up to take it and scored.
Despite the strong performance from the Political Science/Psychology team, they couldn’t equalize, as Geography/Chemistry emerged victorious after the final whistle was blown, leaving the result to be remembered as a memorable and hard-fought battle. However, the award for best player of the tournament was given to Dayo from the Political Science/Psychology team, to commend his effort in the just concluded Survival Cup.
