After a disappointing start to their SEALS Cup campaign, Political Science came into their second group stage match with one mission: win. And despite the odds, cards flying left, right, and center, they pulled off a 1-0 victory over Law in what was one of the most chaotic matches of the tournament so far.
The drama started early. POS striker Korede, already on a yellow, was sent off just minutes into the game for an altercation during a free kick. It was a controversial call that sparked outrage on the sidelines. In the confusion, even winger Oba got booked, and suddenly POS were down to 10 men with nearly a full game left to play.
From that moment on, it felt like the referee had it out for Political Science. Every tight call seemed to go against them. Five yellow cards in the first half alone told the story. But somehow, despite all the setbacks, POS were the better side. They pushed, they pressed, and they kept Law pinned back, going into halftime level—and very much still in the game.
The second half saw POS shift into another gear.They dominated possession and finally got their reward when Elmer stood over a freekick and fired it into the net. The Law keeper scrambled, but it was too late, POS were ahead.
Even after taking the lead, Political Science didn’t sit back, they kept pressing, hungry for more. Law hardly posed a real threat, but the tension stayed high, especially after POS were denied not one, but two penalty shouts that looked obvious to just about everyone watching. the frustration could be felt, but credit to the team, they kept their cool and saw the game out.
Now, with three points in the bag, all eyes are on the next clash against Archaeology and Anthropology. A win there, and Political Science are looking at promotion.
