The University of Ibadan’s celebrated debate competition, JAWWAR, proceeds to another thrilling round as faculties clashed for spots in the next stage. The contest once again showcased sharp arguments, eloquence, brilliance, and the trademark intensity that defines the event.
The Faculty of Education set the pace early, overpowering Dentistry with a commanding 73.58 to 57.75 victory. Their strong showing reinforced their reputation as serious contenders for this year’s crown.
In another keen contest, Clinical Sciences edged past the Faculty of Science with a score of 62.00 to 54.00. Clearer arguments and a more balanced presentation gave Clinical Sciences the edge on the day.
The Faculty of Technology also impressed, narrowly defeating Nursing 72.9 to 67.0. It was one of the tightest encounters of the round, but Technology’s delivery proved decisive.
The biggest spotlight, however, fell on the defending champions, the Faculty of the Social Sciences and they reminded everyone why they are the team to beat. In a charged battle against Economics, Social Sciences delivered a convincing 72.00 to 54.86 win, showing depth, consistency, and the calmness of champions.
The round closed with Law facing Veterinary Medicine. Law held their nerve to claim a narrow 65.75 to 63.91 win, capping off a day of intense competition.
With these results, Education, Clinical Sciences, Technology, The Social Sciences, and Law advance further in the competition. The defending champions, The Social Sciences, remain firm favorites but will face growing pressure from other faculties eager to unseat them.
As the rounds progress,JAWWAR continues to deliver on its promise: a platform where the University of Ibadan’s brightest minds engage in spirited discourse, sharpen their intellect, and uphold a tradition of excellence.
