Akande Pelumi: My name is Akande Pelumi. A 200-level student of the Department of political science.
INTERVIEWER: Alright.
Can you be more expressive about yourself? More background info about yourself.

Akande Pelumi: I am the last of five kids birthed to Mr and Mrs M. I Akande. I hail from the beautiful and historical city of Oyo, where I completed my primary and secondary education.
I attended God’s foundation nursery and primary school. I also attended Olivet Baptist High School Oyo where I completed my secondary school education
INTERVIEWER: Why are you aspiring to be the next vice president of the association? What’s your motivation?
Akande Pelumi: I’m aspiring to be the next vice president out of the love I have for the department and my commitment to serve.
What motivate me to declare my intention to contest for the post of vice president is that, I’ve been a member of this association for like 3 years including the ASUU strike time and the way political science students are participating in faculty elections is not encouraging.
We can’t be practising politics on paper. I’m not promising much but to return the department to where it rightfully belongs.
INTERVIEWER: Okay, what is the theme of your campaign? What will NAPSSITE benefit from your emerging as the Vice president?
Akande Pelumi: The theme of my campaign is “INCLUSIVITY”
If I emerge as the vice president, I promise to work with other EXCOS to set up an academic committee, set up a mentorship scheme, organise tutorials and orientations, and provide support for NAPSSITEs at the faculty level.
INTERVIEWER: Cool, how do you intend to return the department to where it rightfully belongs (politically) by organising tutorials, setting up academic committees etc
Akande Pelumi: That is at the faculty level.
There is a wise saying which goes thus, a stitch in time saves nine. If I emerge as the vice president, I’ll work hand in hand with other EXCOS to organise congresses and orientations for freshers where they’ll be able to declare their intentions to run for a post at the faculty level.
After that, I’ll work hand in hand with other EXCOS to form reasonable alliances with other departments of significant demography as we’re already at a disadvantage due to population inequality.
INTERVIEWER: Okay, what’s your experience as a leader? And how would you rate yourself in regards to your aspiration?
Akande Pelumi: I was the assistant senior boy and later became the Head boy in my primary school days.
I was also the time keeper during my junior and senior secondary school days.
At the university level, due to my commitment to serve, I’m part of the faculty publicity, faculty entertainment group and a member of the department’s social and planning committee.
I’ll say I’ve amassed a lot of experience.
I’ll rate myself 9/10
INTERVIEWER: Apart from your basic duties, what’s the most significant thing you’ll contribute to the association?
Akande Pelumi: Like I said earlier, I’m not promising much nor will I promise what I won’t be able to fulfil but to ensure the progress of the association and ensure more participation in faculty politics.

Akande Pelumi:Yes I have.

INTERVIEWER: Shouldn’t NAPSSITES have an idea of what they are expecting from you?
Just a summary of it, that’s all I’m asking for.
If I emerge as the vice president, I promise to
1. Organise orientations for freshers in order to guide them towards the right path
2. Create an academic committee which will comprise of members from all levels
3. Create a mentorship scheme for the freshers
4. Provide adequate tutorials for freshers
5. Organise workshops for tech skills acquisition
6. Encourage inclusiveness in faculty politics
7. And together with the social director, organise social activities.
