The students of the department are skeptical of the new administration because of the unfulfilled promises of the past administration. They are wondering if the new administration will be any different.
The 2021/2022 administration led by Mr. Ikotun Oluwafemi which the current executives received the mantle left a huge gap for the Mr. Oluwatobi Victor administration to fill. Prior to this, the incumbent administration has been trying to get away from the mud smeared from the previous so as to have a blemish free administration, would they live up to expectation? We shall see..
The NAPSS executives were sworn in on August 23rd, 2023, after the election process was concluded on June 1st, 2023, before the department examination. This is inappropriate because the welfare of the NAPSSites was neglected, while the end-of-session dinner party was held glamorously. Other elected executives across the university were duly sworn in on or before the dinner party.
In other words, the NAPSS executives took their time to be sworn in, even though the students were waiting for them to start working on their welfare. Instead of focusing on the students’ needs, the executives threw a glamorous end-of-session dinner party. This is unfair to the students, and it shows that the executives are not taking their responsibilities seriously.
When asked about the delay in the transition of power, President John Victor Oluwatobi said that it was not up to the incoming administration to decide and that it did not affect their readiness in any way. He assured NAPSSites that they were fully ready for the task ahead and that they had done a lot of background work. He also said that most of their early promises would be effective upon handing over.
There are other issues and events that appalled the students like the Picnic that was organized last session which students complained of not being treated well despite paying to get access to the event.
