It is hard to write about how NAPSS has been doing lately, especially when it comes to providing truly great social events.
Does that mean every social event planned has been a failure? Or are the social committees fully incompetent? The answer will be No. The inability of most NAPSS social events to be remarkable and well-anticipated often stems from the perceived energy the NAPSS body itself radiates.
Should we then blame the people in the department for not being social enough? Of course, that would be a fallacy, as all humans are social beings. Yes, you’ll get the gist if you pay close attention in POS 111 class. There’s a belief that the department as a whole is not social enough, and often times this gloomy presumption clouds most events that are being organised.
The 2021/22 session can be said to have made a remarkable effort to turn these negative assumptions around. It is still difficult to expect that NAPSS will improve its social events, especially after the Escapade dinner, which was a disappointment for many freshers. Additionally, some students come to social events with a negative attitude, which can ruin the experience for everyone.
If this is seen as a challenge to the newly formed social committee to ensure a change in perceptions of the department’s social life, so be it. The choice is yours.
As students of the organization, you should expect more from NAPSS and celebrate its successes by wearing your most glamorous and eye-catching outfits.
