Sociology would have it has manifest functions and latent functions, while the students are basically in school for their academics which is their manifest function, it doesn’t stop them from including extracurricular academics which serves as their latent functions. As a matter of fact most students see these activities as coping mechanisms away from academic workload and stress.
University of Ibadan, known for its academic vibrancy as well as extracurricular activities that is not poor either. According to the popular saying, “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.” It is the season of sport in the citadel of learning. The sessional seal cup match where 32 teams compete against each other amidst 64 matches and one team is crowned the Champion.
Once a dinner ally, The Department of Political Science will be playing against her dinner mate of the 2021/2022 session, civil engineering at the old SUB field on Friday, 23/05/2025.
Till Friday, if political science would be civil enough to show superiority, or civil engineering would be political enough to exercise power in the game of conflicting interest.
