The first encounter of the day was a tale of two halves. The Freshmen, buoyed by youthful energy, took an early lead courtesy of Abdulrahman. However, the Penultimates, experienced and resilient, were unfazed.
Their winger, Jonathan, was the man of the moment, delivering a stunning response with two goals that left the Freshmen defense scrambling. Oba sealed the deal with a masterful free kick, curling the ball into the top corner to make it 3-1.
The second clash of the day was a match between the experienced Finalists and the determined Sophomores.
The first half saw the Finalists dominate possession, but their profligacy in the final third cost them dearly. Despite their fiery attacks, the Sophomore defense held firm, ensuring a goalless first half.
The tide turned in the second half as the Sophomores, rejuvenated and disciplined, seized the momentum. Their breakthrough came from a costly defensive error, pounced on with ruthless efficiency. Tobi delivered the moment of the match, leaping highest to meet a pinpoint corner kick and guiding a glancing header into the net. The opposing goalkeeper could only watch as the ball nestled in the bottom corner, sealing a 2-0 victory.
With emotions running high and rivalries intensifying, all eyes now turn to Monday’s fixtures.
