Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, secured their first win in five games yesterday, defeating Nottingham Forest 3-0. This victory comes after a streak of four consecutive losses in the Premier League and seven winless games across all European competitions. The past six weeks have been challenging for City, with this being their first four-game losing streak in the Premier League since 2008. Notably, it was also their first seven-game winless streak since 2004 under Kevin Keegan.

The return of Kevin De Bruyne to the starting lineup, following his recovery from injury, significantly contributed to City’s win. De Bruyne delivered a masterclass performance, assisting Bernardo Silva’s opening goal and scoring the second goal in the first half. Doku sealed the victory with the third goal, assisted by Haaland.

With this win, Manchester City moves to fourth place in the table, trailing leaders Liverpool by nine points. The title race has intensified, particularly after Liverpool’s draw against Newcastle. Manchester City’s win against Forest signals their return to winning form, reigniting their pursuit of a fifth consecutive Premier League title.
