On the 12th of November 2022, strong allegations of misconduct were made against the UISU PRO, Oma, primarily involving maladministration of funds generated by the UI SU TV and disregard for the SU constitution. These allegations were publicised by the UCJ and Indy Press Organisation. The SRC during its sitting on the 12th of November, 2022 made the resolutions regarding this issue that has been brought to public attention as announced by the Speaker of the House, Eniola Olatoye, in an interview with UCJUI, at the end of the sitting of the SRC on Saturday which was eventually officially released to the public on Sunday, 13th of November 2022.
It was noted that the disciplinary committee has been given two weeks, which will lapse on the 26th of November, to report the findings of its investigation of the UI SU TV since it’s inception back to the House as the allegations levelled against the PRO regarding maladministration of funds contradicts the dictates of the constitution. After which, the House will sit on the report and decide necessary actions to be taken based on the report. Consequently, the PRO is to submit a detailed and comprehensive report to both the House leadership and the Disciplinary committee on all activities and operations of the UI SU TV from its inception till date.
And lastly, all activities of the UI SU TV are thereby suspended until investigations have been completed. The SRC then urges the students of the University of Ibadan to take note of the foregoing and remain patient with the SRC as due process is being followed as it remains committed to its responsibilities which include protecting the integrity of the Students’ Union constitution against breach and serving as an organ to check on the activities of the Student Union officials.
