The Department of Political Science (POS) on Saturday, 17th of August 2024 advanced to the Semi-Final in the ongoing Seal Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over the Department of Civil Engineering.
The match which took place at the old football pitch, SUB started with POS dominating the game and making decisive connections within the opponent’s half.
POS launched a relentless attack, scoring two goals in the first half of the competition. However, their efforts were thwarted as both goals were disallowed, leaving the scoreline unchanged.
The second half started with Political Science putting pressure on the Civil Eng backline. Some minutes into the half, POS Number 6 man, Pogba played a well-timed pass to POS winger, Obaloluwa who pushed the ball into the opponent’s box before laying a pass to POS striker, Tunji who converted the pass to a goal.
The second goal came moments later from a poorly defended corner kick. Capitalising on the loose ball from the uncoordinated defence, POS captain, Pogba neatly slotted the ball into the back of the net to give his team a 2-0 lead in the quarter-final fixture.
Towards the end of the second half Civil Eng grabbed a consolation goal which unfortunately was not enough to change the outcome of the game.
The Department of Political Science is set to battle with the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering on Tuesday, 20th of August 2024 in the last four fixtures of the tournament .
