The National Association of Political Science Students (NAPSS), University of Ibadan, will organise an academic visit to the Oyo State House of Assembly on 13 August to provide students with firsthand exposure to legislative processes and democratic governance.
The visit is designed to bridge classroom learning with practical experience by giving participants the opportunity to observe a live plenary session and gain insight into the workings of the legislature.
Students will also interact with the Speaker and other principal officers of the House, offering them practical knowledge of lawmaking, leadership, and governance beyond what is taught in lectures.
In addition to its academic value, the visit will provide participants with opportunities to network with fellow students, take photographs, and gain a deeper appreciation of the legislature’s role in Nigeria’s democratic system.
According to the NAPSS UI executive council, registration will close on 30 July. The participation fee is ₦1,000 for NAPSS members and ₦2,000 for non-members. Refreshments will be provided during the visit.
The association described the excursion as an opportunity for students to complement theoretical knowledge with real-world experience and deepen their understanding of governance through direct observation.
