FATSSSA Week Officially Commences with Conference

The long-anticipated FATSSSA Week commenced with great enthusiasm and intellectual excitement. The event commenced fully by 12p.m with a welcoming address delivered by the President of the association, followed by the Vice President’s address. They both expressed deep appreciation to the guest and audience in attendance.

The opening lecture was delivered by one of the Keynote Speakers, Prof. Janice Olawoye (Founder, Kings International College) where she emphasized imagination as a foundation for innovation, growth and development. According to her, “logic will take you from A to B, but imagination will take you everywhere” She further encouraged students to think beyond limitations and eliminate the mindset that social science courses are of less relevance in the outer world.

The event then proceeded to the panel session, where the panelist shared their thoughts on the given topics. According to one of the panelists, Prof. Remi Aiyede(Professor of Political Science), He holds that People usually think that theory is different from practice, There’s always a connection between theory and practice. “He advised students to always see connections among things. Open your mind to learning not only what’s learnt in the classroom.”

Also, Ms Damilola Ogunlana(CEO, Edenlife), one of the panelist emphasizes two virtue important to students: to observe and to be curious. Ask questions and give feedback early. To be yourself, you have to discover yourself. Dr. Lawrence Olajide Taiwo(CEO Global Centre for Healthy Relationship and Leadership) also a member of the panelist asserts that students should always look inward and reflect.

Awards were given to the speakers by Prof. Benjamin Ehigie, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, accompanied by the president of the association.
