The newly launched Access Bank along Barth Road has been a true godsend to the students of the University of Ibadan, providing them with a much-needed solution to their everyday struggles over the past few weeks. With its convenient location and wide range of banking services, this branch has quickly become a go-to destination for busy students who need to make quick transactions or access their accounts on the go.
The bank started its operations on May 30, 2023, but it was officially opened in a grand ceremony on July 28, 2023. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from all over the country, including the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Adebowale.
Branch Manager Mr. Olatunji Oguntoye Eric told IndyPress that the bank’s services, which began in late May 2023, are tailored to meet the needs of the university.
The University Chancellor and other bank directors from across the country spoke at the grand opening. Victor Etuokwu, the Deputy Managing Director, of North of Access Bank Plc and an alumnus of the university, said that it was a pleasure to see the outcome of the journey to establish the branch, which began in 2017.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebowale said, “This is the first time we are witnessing this type of facility within the university community. We have gone around the entire facility and we know that it is going to be of immense benefit, particularly, to students because all the facilities that are here are student-friendly and I know that it will be a great engagement for not only students but also staff and other people living within the campus.”
Since it began operations, the bank has been committed to meeting the needs of the university community. This is evident in the provision of three lounges with sockets for charging devices, as well as free Wi-Fi access. These facilities allow students and staff to relax, read, or chat with friends while also staying connected to the internet.
