The Office of the Dean of Students has officially released an internal memorandum announcing the closure date for the nine undergraduate halls of residence on the main campus of the University of Ibadan.
The memorandum, addressed to the wardens of the 15 halls of residence and, by extension, the student body and affiliated associations, outlines the necessary directives for the exercise.
According to the notice, students residing in the undergraduate hostels are required to vacate their halls with all personal belongings on or before Monday, 16 February 2026, by 4:00 p.m., marking the end of the 2024/2025 academic session.
However, Kenneth Melanby Hall and Queen Elizabeth II Hall have been designated as authorised hostels for the continuous accommodation of undergraduate students on ongoing academic programmes. Students eligible for this arrangement are required to remit a total sum of ₦4,800 (₦300 per day for 16 days) through the University of Ibadan Microfinance Bank, as stipulated in the memorandum.
The memorandum further stated that fumigation of the halls will commence immediately after closure. Wardens of postgraduate hostels accommodating students with valid academic reasons to remain on campus have been advised to make temporary arrangements where necessary.
