TWILIGHT SOIRÉE: A DINING AFFAIR OF NICE-SA/NAPSS

by Gaudium Intueri

The NAPSS/NICE-SA dinner which has been very much anticipated was held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at AS Events Centre, Faculty of Agric, University of Ibadan. The event was scheduled to kick off at 3 pm with the red carpet scheduled to kickstart at 4 pm. As of 5:30 pm when some students arrived at the venue, it was observed that the event was yet to kickstart full throttle.

To get an objective overview of the event, NAPSSites who attended the dinner were interviewed to gauge their experience. A NAPSSite who pleaded anonymity judged the event to be interesting, well-organized, and eventful but chided the organizers on how they failed to keep to time and schedule. Similarly, other NAPSSites interviewed gave the dinner good reviews but also complained about how time was badly managed by the social director, Mr. Akintunde, and his team. When asked to comment on the dinner, Ayomide (not real name), a NAPSSite commented; The timing has been poor, the fun-fare is decent. I am giving an overall rating of 5/10.

During the chat with the Social director, Mr. Akintunde, he explained that the overall objective of the event was to finish the session in style and create an environment where NAPSSites get to relax, bond and create a lasting memory. Also, he stated confidently that NAPSSites heeded his invitation to purchase tickets for the dinner despite the hike in price from #2000 to #3000 and the proof can be seen in the number that purchased the ticket and attended the dinner. When asked, he stated that his standout moment of the dinner was the pageantry (mr/miss). Finally, he revealed that has been getting glowing reviews from the attendees. In his words,  I have been getting positive remarks on the aesthetics of the food and everything.

Also, an interview was conducted with the president for clarity over why awards for certain categories were not presented despite the categories being enlisted among awards for nomination.  In his words, he said:

“The certificates that we did not call…erm the award that we did not call yesterday rather have been printed definitely but…since I know almost everybody in the department, I looked for those who were not around and did not bother to call it because it would be a waste of time but it has been printed. [NAPSSites such as] Lanlehin Abeeb, Fiyinfoluwa, even though we called but later discovered they didn’t come, so I decided not  to call those that did not come”

Also, the President was asked to send pictures of unpresented awards which he hasn’t done as of when this report was drafted but reports from some NAPSSites who were not at the dinner to collect their awards suggest that they have gotten their certificates from the President, Mr. Ikotun Oluwafemi.
