Professor Emmanuel Remi Aiyede of the University of Ibadan has been appointed as the new Head of the Editorial Board of the Nigerian Tribune, one of Nigeria’s oldest and most respected news publications.
He announced the appointment via his LinkedIn account on Thursday Evening.
In an excerpt from his welcome statement “I am happy to announce my assumption of a new role as the Chair of the Editorial Board of Nigerian Tribune Newspaper, Nigeria’s longest surviving privately owned newspaper,”
Professor Aiyede described the board as a reflection of “the rich tapestry of Nigerian excellence,” bringing together distinguished experience, expert knowledge, and diverse professional voices. He emphasized that diversity remains the board’s greatest strength.
He further stressed the responsibility of the Editorial Board to give voice to the voiceless and to consistently advocate for national unity and development.
Aiyede, a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Ibadan, brings decades of academic, administrative, and leadership experience into the position. He has served the university in several key capacities, including as Sub-Dean and as Head of Department from 2020 to 2022.
He is also an active member of various international professional organisations in political science, public administration, strategic studies, and public policy.
