It’s that time of the session when activities are not only confined to the expository pages of POS 114 but extended to accommodate other activities like “joy is coming” “amala fiesta” etc. Election, as known by UItes in general, is a common phenomenon in the second semester, and seen as a tradition that whoever intend to contest for any political office should not sleep on it. However, NAPSS Presidential contest took an unexpected twist as Olasoji Ayomide Samuel, a 300-level Political Science major, has officially withdrawn from the race as of September 9th, 2025. Olasoji, who had earlier launched his campaign platform called “Trailblazers” sparked conversations across levels and student groups about what a Trailblazers presidency might look like. The group quickly attracted attention of many students whom are quite suprised by the declaration.
However, in a message addressed to his members and the broader NAPSS community, Olasoji announced that he would no longer be pursuing the presidency, citing personal reasons. Although some of his followers expressed disappointment, they also acknowledged his courage in making such a difficult decision. Many have openly stated their continued loyalty and appreciation for him, describing his brief campaign journey as both inspiring and shocking. While Olasoji did not go into detail about the personal factors behind his withdrawal, he used the moment to thank his supporters for believing in his vision. He further encouraged them to stay invested in the growth of NAPSS, regardless of who eventually emerges as the association’s leader.
With his exit, the presidential race has been dramatically reshaped. Other aspirants are now left to recalibrate their strategies, as the contest opens up in unpredictable ways. For students, the big question remains, who will rise to fill the gap and lead NAPSS into its next chapter of greatness?
