Following the memo released from the dean of student affairs, University of Ibadan has officially announced the closure of school hostels which would mark the end of 2023/2024 academic session. The memo specifically states March 26th, as the date which all students are expected to vacate their hostels on or before 6pm.
Provisions were made for students who are still undergoing academic activities, stating that kenneth Mellanby Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall will remain temporarily open for students undergoing various training programs, including Industrial Training (IT), Teaching Practice(TP) and Practical Training. Students interested in staying beyond the official session closure must follow a specified procedure as instructed by the school management. This process will be open from Thursday, March 27, to Friday, April 11, 2025, covering a maximum stay of 16 days.
Additionally, the memo emphasized that postgraduate students must also vacate their halls during fumigation exercises, which will be conducted as part of routine hostel maintenance. Students were firmly instructed to adhere to these directives, as the university cautioned that any unauthorized stay in the halls of residence beyond the deadline would result in disciplinary measures. Students are urged to comply with these directives to ensure a smooth transition at the end of the academic session.
