On the quest for academic excellence, students are often confused on the path to a prolific reading culture.
Undoubtedly, students might have been reading before now. However, with exams lurking in the corners , Students tend to be more uptight with their academics . They employ various reading mechanics and try different methods in the frantic search for the best reading culture to stimulate assimilation and understanding.
The pathway to achieving this goal is an ordeal of confusion and dilemma for students . The difficulty in making a choice between reading alone and reading with peers .
Some Students prefer to go with the tide – take any path in sight, living in delusion and ignoring the reality of the need for a consistent productive reading pattern.
Students should take a moment and reflect on their academic progress , taking note of which reading method has been more effective towards a satisfactory academic result . Students need to understand the difference between both reading methods and the peculiarities of each one.
Private reading method involves personal study with little or no input from friends.
Group reading method entails the acts of studying and discussing subjects of study, sharing knowledge and exchanging explanations with friends.
Whilst reading alone can be calm and insightful, group reading can be enjoyable and helpful.
Private reading can aid assimilation and spark a sense of independence while Group reading can cause dependency and nonconfidence probably if your peers seem to know more that you do .
Regardless, Group reading encourages fast learning and exposure to vast array of knowledge depending on the intellectual capacity of the group members.
However differently the two paths appear to be, it’s almost like there’s just a thin line between them .This fading link is as a result of the fusion of private reading and group reading . This is the third path. The capacity of a student to merge both reading methods by recognizing the appropriate time to execute each method for academic benefits .
Students should find their niche and embrace what works for them . The particular path that aids their reading process in preparation for a successful examination. A decision has to be made early to avoid roaming around aimlessly in the futile search of effective reading peers or filling your head with misinterpretations in the guise of private reading .
